Pakistan cricket team on Sunday
showed some resistance against the strong South African bowling lineup
while chasing a huge target of 480 runs and scored 183 runs for the loss
of four wickets, thanks to 100 run partnership from Asad Shafiq and
Misbah-ul-Haq.
The Pakistani skipper along with young batting star Asad Shafiq fought back and gave their fans a hope that if the pair continues the match might turn in favour of their team thus making a record run chase in the test history.
Earlier in the innings, Mohammad Hafeez got out early scoring just 2 runs but Nasir’s 46 gave hope that the Pakistani team would not let down their supporters as earlier in the first innings when the whole team got out at 49 runs.
Soon after Nasir Jamshed’s dismissal, the early wickets of Azhar Ali 18 and Younis Khan 15 once again put the team in a critical situation but Shafiq’s 53 and Misbah’s 44 gave hope to the guests.
The Proteas’ pacers once again bowled well and created difficulties for their opponents similar to their performance in the second innings of the match. Steyn, Philander, Morkel and Kallis shared one wicket each in the innings.
Earlier, the hosts declared their second innings at 275 for the loss of three wickets with Hashim Amla 74 and de Villiers 103 remained not out.
